The Soul Compass.
Four questions to locate where you are — and one short practice to meet yourself there.
The Torah’s inner dimension teaches that your inner life has structure. What feels like confusion, heaviness, or restlessness is not random — it is a specific, nameable state of the soul, calling for a specific kind of attention. The Soul Compass is a short written guide to the five levels of the soul, adapted for direct, everyday use. No prior knowledge is needed.
It begins with a four-question self-check to locate your inner state right now. Each state is matched to one 3–5-minute practice built around a Hebrew word or letter — breath, movement, and attention — and closes with a single journal prompt to notice what shifted.
Where are you right now?
Scattered א
Thoughts jumping from one thing to another, unable to settle. Your mind is overactive and needs gathering — the compass meets it with the silent letter Alef.
Heavy קומה
Weighed down, hard to move. Your life force is low and needs lifting — the compass meets it with Kumah, the call to arise.
Closed רחמים
Shut down, the heart behind a wall. Your emotions are guarded and need softening — the compass meets them with Rachamim, mercy.
Restless רצון
A restless energy, wanting something without knowing what. Your will is unanchored and needs direction — the compass meets it with Ratzon.
A note on the fifth level: the guide introduces all five levels of the soul to give you the full map. It offers practices for the four levels that can be recognized and met in everyday experience — the mind, life force, emotions, and will. The fifth level, יחידה (yechidah), is the soul’s deepest point of unity. It is always present, but it is not a state to diagnose, adjust, or practice on; it is the wholeness beneath all of the practices.
